YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER - SESSIONAL LEADER IN CHARGE
Location: THE OBC, 3 Webb Street Bermondsey, Southwark, London SE1 4RP
Hours: 18 hours per week (evening and some weekend work as & when required)
Salary: £16.30 per hour (29,666 - FTE Pro Rata)
Contract: Part Time Permanent subject to Enhanced DBS and completion of 6 month probation period.
Start date: January 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Youth Support Worker to join our dedicated team in the role as Sessional Leader In Charge . You will be reponsible for the planning and delivery of engaging activities and projects that inspire creativity, build resilience, and create positive change in the lives of young people. Overseeing a small staff team, you’ll work directly with young people from diverse backgrounds, providing developmental support to enable them to explore their potential, develop new skills, and make positive choices in a safe and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee youth club sessions, ensuring safeguarding and safety at all times.
Build positive, supportive relationships with young people aged 7–19+.
Plan and deliver engaging creative, recreational, and develpmental non formal educational activities underpinned by the NYA Youth Work Curriculum.
Support young people’s personal and social development making referrals to external support agencies where appropriate.
Manage sessional staff and volunteers during activities ensuring that targets are met and outcomes achieved.
Ensure accurate record-keeping, monitoring, and reporting of participation and outcomes.
Provide written reports and case studies evidencing the impact of the organisation.
Promote equality, inclusion, and the values of The OBC Youth Club.
Represent the organisation to external partners and funders.
About You:
Previous experience of working with young people in a youth work, education, or community setting and the delivery of group work and individual support.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Ability to plan and deliver inclusive and engaging sessions.
Commitment to supporting young people’s development and wellbeing.
Youth Work qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of the NYA Youth Work Curriculum, the Southwark area and issues affecting local young people.
First Aid and/or Safeguarding certification is desirable.
